Becamo SA

Becamo SA is located in the Santa Rosa de Copan region of Honduras and is one of the most popular coffee exporters in the Americas, as well as the most advanced processing facility.

The company was founded by Emilio Medina in 1983 and became part of Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) in 1989. Since then, it has possessed the most advanced processing facilities in Central America.

Founded in 1983, Becamo has been dedicated for decades to helping farmers like Juan Manuel grow the best coffee beans and climb the ladder of the coffee world.

Juan Villatoro

Juan Villatoro did not start growing coffee like his brothers and father. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he was raising cattle and growing corn. His father gave him a small coffee production, so he started growing coffee. As the cattle industry disappeared, he worked in a coffee nursery and then dedicated himself completely to coffee, purchasing other small-scale productions.

Juan's wife Lesvia Martinez and his son Milton Villatoro Martínez both help manage the farm. Over the years, they have faced many challenges, from natural disasters in 1987 that destroyed his cellar and washing processing plant, to the ongoing challenges of controlling the drying process. He is proud of his coffee, and with good reason: Milagro is always the most popular each year, with bright lime flavor, quality layering, and delicious fruit characteristics. His auction lots include:

  • El milagro parte baja
  • El Cruzero
  • Las Cuevas
  • El Pino

Finca El Pino

Juan Manuel Aguilar, owner of Finca El Pino, is 29 years old this year. As a child, Juan saw his mother working day and night to maintain the small café she inherited from her husband, providing food for Juan and his siblings.

Juan shares that when he watched her working so hard, he wished he could become strong enough and was determined to help his mother when he grew up. After school in the afternoons, Juan would go to the farm, pick coffee cherries left on the lower branches by pickers, and learn how to process coffee cherries on his mother's small coffee processing machine. Once he grew up, Juan took over the family farm and continued to manage it, bringing in profits that were crucial for buying food and providing education for his family.

Geisha

What makes Geisha special is its very obvious and distinct floral and citrus flavors, very high clarity, soft and elegant acidity, long-lasting cottony sweetness, and the mouthfeel of premium black tea. The floral aroma and intense sweetness of tropical fruits create a unique floral and fruity fragrance.

Fine Natural Process

The harvested coffee fruits are poured into large water tanks, where mature and full fruits will sink to the bottom, removing floating beans. The entire coffee fruits with pulp, skin, and parchment are placed on raised beds to sun-dry, turned irregularly until the moisture content reaches about 12%, which takes about two to four weeks. Finally, a hulling machine removes the dried hard skin, pulp, and parchment layer, revealing the green beans.
