FrontStreet Coffee · Indonesia BIWA Gold Top Mandheling Introduction

"Gold Top Mandheling" (also known as "Golden Top Mandheling") comes from the Lin Dong area of Sumatra Island, Indonesia. It features rich aroma, thick and low-bodied taste, with overall performance showing more caramel sweetness than typical Mandheling!

The green beans undergo strict manual selection with zero defects.

100% Japanese standard coffee beans

The "Gold Top Mandheling," internationally renowned for its four rounds of manual screening and clean, rich flavor profile, is the result of years of cultivation by Japanese coffee merchants on Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Traditionally, Japanese people prefer coffee with low acidity, clean taste, high sweetness, and distinct aroma. "Gold Top Mandheling" is precisely a product tailored for the Japanese market.

Estate Introduction:

The predecessor of Gold Top Mandheling was Golden Mandheling. Golden Mandheling was originally a Japanese product that was introduced to Taiwan about ten years ago. At that time, it was called Golden Mandheling, which we translated as "Golden Mandheling." However, a few years ago, a local Indonesian company registered Golden Mandheling as their trademark, forcing all Japanese companies importing this product to stop using the Golden Mandheling name. Therefore, Japanese importers changed Golden Mandheling to Gold Top Mandheling, simultaneously changing its translated name to "Golden Top Mandheling."

Produced in the Lintong area of northern Sumatra, Indonesia, harvesting operations are limited to fully hand-picked individual ripe fruits to ensure initial bean quality. The coffee cherries are processed using the SEMI-WASHED method, naturally sun-dried, and then undergo another drying refinement process after hulling, along with two rounds of green bean cleaning and four rounds of Hand-Pick manual selection! Therefore, Gold Top Mandheling can be described as a strictly selected premium Mandheling coffee.

Gold Top Mandheling Selection Process:

Specialized coffee procurement companies directly purchase perfectly ripe red coffee fruits from farmers.

On the same day, the coffee pulp is removed to extract the green beans, which are then placed in small water tanks for washing to completely remove impurities.

The washed beans undergo sun-drying treatment and are then transported to the export company in Medan. The export company then subjects these beans to two more days of sun-drying and hulling.

Since the processed beans still have a moisture content as high as 40%, they must be further sun-dried to reduce moisture to 12.5%.

Fully dried beans must undergo density processing, air separation, and screen sorting to remove silver skins, small beans, defective beans, and foreign objects. Finally, they undergo Hand-Pick processing to achieve the highest quality green beans before being exported as Gold Top Mandheling.

Gold Top Mandheling is packaged in special straw mats in units of 10kg for global buyers.

Flavor Description:

The dry aroma emits the characteristic grass and forest scents of rainforest coffee, with a faint sweet aroma of dried longan fruit. After brewing, the distinctive rainforest cedar aroma becomes more pronounced, with an obvious bittersweet chocolate-like taste that transitions to honey sweetness in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied, with relatively low acidity and a subtle sweet aftertaste.

Difference Between Golden Top Mandheling and FrontStreet Coffee's PWN Gold Mandheling:

Both Golden Top Mandheling and FrontStreet Coffee's PWN Gold Mandheling are produced in the Lintong area of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Harvesting operations are limited to fully hand-picked individual ripe fruits to ensure initial bean quality. The coffee cherries are processed using the SEMI-WASHED method, naturally sun-dried, and then undergo another drying refinement process after hulling, along with two rounds of green bean cleaning and four rounds of Hand-Pick manual selection! Therefore, both can be described as strictly selected premium Mandheling coffee.

Gold Mandheling was registered as a trademark by Indonesia's Pawani Coffee Company, making "Gold Mandheling" exclusive to PWN. The Gold Mandheling produced by PWN undergoes three rounds of manual screening and one machine screening, resulting in very beautiful beans. "Gold Mandheling" is merely a product named by the company.

The predecessor of Golden Top Mandheling (Gold Top Mandheling) was Golden Mandheling. Golden Mandheling was originally a Japanese product that was introduced to Taiwan about ten years ago. At that time, it was called Golden Mandheling. Because Indonesia's Pawani Company registered Golden Mandheling as their trademark, all Japanese companies importing this product had to stop using the Golden Mandheling name. Therefore, Japanese importers changed Golden Mandheling to Gold Top Mandheling, simultaneously changing its translated name to "Golden Top Mandheling."

Gold Mandheling marked with "PWN" is the abbreviation of Indonesia's Pawani Company. The Gold Mandheling coffee produced by their company has been registered in Indonesia. Therefore, coffee beans produced by Japanese companies in the same region can only be sold as "Golden Top Mandheling," with "BIWA" marked on the packaging.
