Compared to Kenyan coffee, Malawi's coffee also possesses considerable sweetness and aroma, while its acidity presents a different style that is more subdued. If we were to compare Kenyan acidity to high notes, Malawi's acidity would feel like mid to low notes.

All coffee grown in Malawi is of the Arabica variety, ranking as the ninth largest export product, but accounting for only about 5% of total export value.

However, what's particularly special is that although export quantities are quite limited, Malawi's coffee quality has consistently maintained a considerable standard, making it one of the coffee varieties favored by many traders.

Detailed Description

Malawi is located in southeastern Africa and is a landlocked country without access to the sea. About one-fifth of its territory consists of inland lakes. The country is also a member of the East African Fine Coffee Association (EAFCA). The Pamwamba cooperative, composed of smallholder farmers from the Thyolo highlands in southern Malawi, represents this region. The vast majority of farmers in this region follow organic fertilization practices, with high precision in green coffee processing. The beans are uniform in size, exhibiting distinct floral and fruity flavors with sweet spices. The nutty aroma carries subtle sweetness, complemented by rich creamy notes. Upon tasting, it reveals soft citrus acidity, and as it cools, the berry acidity becomes more prominent. The aroma is complex, with a rich body, viscous mouthfeel, and a persistent finish.

FrontStreet Coffee recommends brewing with water at 89-90°C to highlight the distinct plum and white grape flavors.
