Due to geographical and climatic reasons, Mexican coffee bean cultivation areas are near Guatemala, with production classified as Central American type. The main producing regions are: Córdoba, Oaxaca, and Veracruz states. The products are mostly high-altitude washed beans with excellent aroma and acidity. Grades are classified by altitude into three categories: Altura (219-1280 meters), Prima Lavado (853-1006 meters), and Punta Lavado (640-762 meters). Mexican coffee beans are mainly exported to the United States. Their characteristics include smooth mouthfeel, high acidity, medium body, and a slight nutty aftertaste. The balance of sweet, sour, and bitter flavors is neutral, with moderate acidity, presenting a special and elegant taste.

Mexican Coffee Preparation

Mexicans are warm and optimistic, and the chocolate in Mexican coffee perfectly reflects this trait. There are different ways to prepare Mexican coffee, but the main difference is whether it contains alcohol. We'll first introduce the non-alcoholic version.

Heat a cup of milk, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and one teaspoon of vanilla powder in a pot. Maintain medium temperature and avoid high heat - the milk must not boil. Then add cocoa powder, ensuring it dissolves completely and is mixed evenly. If you particularly love chocolate, you can use chocolate syrup instead of mixing cocoa powder with milk.

Let the milk cool for about 5 minutes. When the milk is slightly cooled, pour it into the prepared coffee. Decorate the surface of the coffee with cold cream, then garnish with a stick of cinnamon, and your Mexican coffee is ready.

The fragrance of chocolate and cinnamon mixes together, emitting a desert-like aroma. Tasting such a cup of coffee, you feel as if you're traveling among the gray-green cacti in the Mexican desert - a truly interesting experience.

Mexican coffee offers a comfortable mouthfeel, rich flavor, moderate acidity, with a slight bitterness and pleasant aroma. Premium Mexican coffees include Coatepec, Huatusco, and Orizaba. Coatepec is considered one of the best coffees in the world. It belongs to "mountain coffee," growing in the mountains of Puebla. Besides Coatepec, other Mexican coffees are "fine washed" coffee beans, cultivated in humid, jungle-like mountainous areas. Moreover, these coffee estates are located in low-altitude humid mountain regions. Flavor profile: acidic, aromatic and smooth, rich and full-bodied, vibrant sweet and sour notes, fragrant and strong, with relatively large coffee beans.
