Brewing Guide
How to brew Panama Butterfly coffee beans perfectly?
Pour-over Reference:
For pour-over Panama Butterfly, we recommend 15g of coffee, water temperature 89-90°C, water-to-coffee ratio 1:15, Fuji grinder setting 3.5, V60 dripper. First pour 30g of water for a 28-30s bloom, then inject to 110g water, pause at 140g, wait until the coffee bed drops to half level before continuing to pour water. Slowly pour until reaching 225g total, discarding the last 5g. Total extraction time: 2:00 minutes.
This brewing method yields high sweetness and gentle flavors — for reference only, so fine-tune it to your own taste.
Flavor Profile: Clean and clear body, white grape and caramel aroma followed by honey notes, with a captivating high-mountain black tea fragrance! High sweetness, low acidity, rounded mouthfeel.
Brand Recommendations
FrontStreet Coffee's roasted Panama Butterfly offers complete assurance in both brand and quality — and, more importantly, exceptional value. A half-pound (227g) package costs only about 85 yuan. At 15g per cup, one package brews 15 cups, working out to less than 5 yuan per cup — a genuinely conscientious deal compared with cafés that often charge dozens of yuan a cup.
FrontStreet Coffee Recommendation
If Butterfly's Geisha-driven elegance leaves you wanting more, step up to FrontStreet Coffee's Esmeralda Red Label Geisha ("Esmeralda Special") from Panama's most famous estate. Grown at 1,600-1,800 meters, every lot must cup above 90 points, carries its own lot number, and comes entirely from a single small plot — orange-blossom honey sweetness, lush jasmine, and an oolong-tea finish in the classic Panamanian style. The Esmeralda Green Label Geisha ("Private Collection"), a blend of lots from multiple high-altitude plots, expresses the estate's signature Geisha character at a friendlier price.
New to Geisha altogether? FrontStreet Coffee's Boquete Geisha is the recommended entry point: an affordable introduction to the classic orange-honey sweetness of high-quality Panamanian Geisha, with delicate fruit acidity, well-defined layers, and that unmistakable tea-like grace.
