Cold Brew Coffee: How to Make Richer, Stronger Coffee with True Cold Water Brewing
In summer, everyone loves iced coffee, but the best iced coffee isn't regular coffee that's been brewed and frozen - it's "cold brew coffee" made with cold water and steeped for more than ten hours! Besides being richer and more aromatic than regular hot-brewed coffee, it also eliminates the bitter and astringent tastes from coffee bean impurities. You'll fall in love with it from the first sip! In this scorching summer, INSERT will teach you how to prepare this delicious "cold brew coffee"!
Required Materials
Cold water / Coffee powder (can be purchased directly or ground from your favorite coffee beans) / Metal filter for coffee powder / Cloth filter or filter paper / Stirring stick
Preparation Method
1. Pour coffee powder and water into a container (a shallow, wide-mouth glass sealed container works too), with a ratio of approximately 15g coffee powder per measuring cup of water;
2. Stir the coffee powder and water with a stirring stick, cover and seal, then refrigerate for 10 to 15 hours;
3. Take out the refrigerated coffee, pour it through a metal/cloth filter or filter paper to filter the coffee powder. Stir in a circular motion and let the coffee flow slowly without pressing firmly - your concentrated black coffee is now ready;
4. Dilute with a 1:1 ratio or more of water or milk before drinking.
*Cold brew coffee can also be poured into ice cube trays to make coffee ice cubes. When enjoying, add milk for coffee milk that gets stronger with each sip - this is what's known as black brick coffee.
INSERT TIPS
1. The filtered coffee is concentrated with an astonishing caffeine content! It must be diluted with water or milk at a 1:1 ratio or more before drinking! If you really don't want to add water or milk, please add plenty of ice cubes for dilution.
2. Because it hasn't undergone hot water brewing, the chemical components of cold brew coffee don't deteriorate, making it less prone to spoilage. When sealed and stored, it can last longer in the refrigerator.
3. Since cold brew coffee involves longer contact time between water and coffee beans during preparation, more caffeine is extracted. Be careful not to drink too much.
By reducing the bitterness released during hot water brewing, cold brew coffee not only allows you to taste the original flavor of coffee but also enjoy its natural aroma. Additionally, cold brew makes coffee taste less acidic and easier on the palate, which is also better for your stomach and teeth. If you haven't planned your family weekend activities yet, why not try making your own "cold brew coffee"!
