Costa Rica: The Pioneer of Central American Coffee

Costa Rica was the first country in Central America to cultivate coffee, boasting a long history and a comprehensive system from production to sales.

Unique Geographical Advantages

Located in the Central American Isthmus, Costa Rica features numerous volcanoes and possesses natural advantages of sunlight and soil. The climate is harmonized by Pacific and Atlantic ocean currents and sea breezes. The coffee produced reflects the characteristics of local microclimate terroir conditions. In both quality and quantity, Costa Rican coffee has consistently received worldwide recognition and has been rated as one of the world's high-quality coffees.

Two Hundred Years of Coffee Heritage

Coffee cultivation in Costa Rica has a two-hundred-year history, first planted on the slopes of Poas and Barva volcanoes in what is today known as the Central Valley region. The seven main coffee producing regions are distributed from northwest to southeast along the inland central plateau. Costa Rica's volcanic terrain provides fertile volcanic ash, mild and suitable temperatures, and stable, abundant rainfall—all factors contributing to coffee becoming one of Costa Rica's main agricultural products.

The Seven Major Producing Regions

The seven producing regions are: Tarrazú, Tres Ríos, Orosi, Central Valley, West Valley, Turrialba, and Brunca.

Infinity Estate: A Family Legacy

Infinity Estate was established in 2005 through the collaboration of José Jaime Cárdenas Rojas and two sisters from his family, Maribel Barrantes Zúñiga and Kattia Barrantes Zúñiga. Seven years ago, the sisters pooled their resources to establish a fully integrated micro-washing station that processes only coffee harvested from their own family farms.
