El Pilon Processing Plant - Costa Rica's Pioneer in Natural Processing
El Pilon Processing Plant is the first government-approved fully natural sun-drying processing facility in Costa Rica. This exceptionally rare natural sun-drying method produces coffee with rich nutty chocolate and tropical honey apple aromas, showcasing excellent natural flavors.
Costa Rica has traditionally been proud of its washed coffees, always manually selecting fully ripe red cherries and strictly controlling the entire processing process. Until recent years, the honey processing method that has swept the coffee world has become a target pursued by various countries. This micro-batch uses natural sun-drying processing from the TARRAZU region, and the blue jeep pattern on the burlap bags represents their coffee transportation tool.
Geographical Environment
At an altitude of 1,700 meters, coffee is dried on raised African beds. The sun-drying process is labor-intensive and time-consuming, utilizing "28 days of slow sun drying," with daily turning of coffee beans to ensure uniform sun exposure and prevent mold. Their coffee possesses clean and abundant sweetness and fruit flavors.
