Appreciating Coffee from Around the World

The coffee tree belongs to the Rubiaceae family in botany. Coffee trees are native to the subtropical regions of Africa and some islands in southern Asia. In the 16th and 17th centuries, through trade by Venetian merchants and the maritime power of the Dutch, coffee was introduced to Europe. From Africa, it was exported to countries worldwide. Currently, coffee trees are cultivated in over 70 countries, mainly in the equatorial regions of the Americas, Southeast Asia, and India.

The classification of coffee trees is complex, with many species, varieties, and cultivars. Different varieties of coffee beans have different flavors, but even coffee trees of the same variety produce beans with unique characteristics due to the influence of different soils and climates. They are most susceptible to frost damage. After hundreds of years of agricultural development, the main coffee-growing regions are centered around the equator, between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, with abundant rainfall and temperatures between 15-25 degrees Celsius. This region is known as the Coffee Belt or Coffee Zone.

Generally, coffee is commonly classified by bean size into two types: one is the highly regarded Arabica, which is small bean (particle) coffee with distinct acidity and delicious flavor. The other is Robusta, which has larger beans, lower acidity, stronger bitterness, and higher caffeine content.

According to the world's coffee belt, it is divided into three major producing regions: Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. Carefully select the best bean sources from each region, using optimal roasting to fully bring out the inherent aroma and characteristics of the beans, making coffee not only have a top-tier taste but also present the diverse aromas and flavors of coffee.

When tasting coffee beans, you will also be pleasantly surprised by how coffee can bring such varied and charming styles.
