Sidamo Coffee Region
The coffee flavors of Sidamo are incredibly diverse. Different soil types, microclimates, and countless native coffee varieties have created distinctive differences and characteristics in the coffee produced by each town. From 2010 to 2012, it received exceptionally high ratings of 92 to 94 points for three consecutive years from Coffee Review, a prestigious American coffee rating website. This demonstrates the extraordinary value of green coffee beans from this growing region!
The region features towering mountain ranges, highlands, plateaus, valleys, and plains, with diverse topography. The geology in this area consists of nutrient-rich, well-drained volcanic soil, with soil depths reaching nearly two meters. The surface soil appears dark brown or brown. The region's greatest advantage lies in its soil fertility, which is maintained through the natural cycling of organic matter. Natural fertilizers are provided by fallen leaves and debris from surrounding forests, as well as residual plant roots.
Shirsha Cooperative
Located near Dilla town, the Shirsha Cooperative was established in 1976 and is currently a member of the Sidama Coffee Farmer Cooperative Union (SCFCU).
