Corner Farm produces Brazilian specialty coffee. Machado is one of the main specialty coffee production areas. Since 1896, Corner Farm has been producing and maintaining the tradition of specialty coffee. The Magellan family hopes to combine traditional cultivation with modern techniques to provide the best coffee to their consumers. Since 2006, they have obtained Rainforest Alliance certification to ensure production sustainability and comply with the alliance's regulations, respecting labor rights and environmental legislation.
Corner Farm History
The first official record of coffee cultivation in Machado dates back to 1874. As for Corner Farm - historical documents show that economically valuable coffee cultivation began in 1896.
Since 1985, the farm has been owned by the Magalhães family. Maria Selma and Afranio, as fourth-generation members of Corner Farm's owners, continue to be faithful to the tradition of producing specialty coffee. This couple takes dedicated care of the farm and seeks agricultural technology modernization while respecting traditions, learning new cultivation techniques and adding new equipment to improve coffee quality and maintain the traditional farm structure.
Due to its fertile land, Corner Farm has been utilized for coffee cultivation. After the coffee crisis of 1930, Machado began focusing on producing refined coffee, introducing professional techniques from the附属 experimental farm of BANCO Mineiro in Machado (now EPAMIG). At the end of 1985, agronomist Maria Selma Magalhães Paiva married Afranio José Ferreira Paiva of the same profession. Ten years later, with the death of her father, they both became owners of the farm. They have been working hard to care for the farm, always trying to combine respect for tradition with agricultural modernization, while maintaining and enhancing their dairy herd. With the support of technological innovation and protection of ancestral heritage, Maria Selma and Afranio look forward to passing it on to the next generation, making the farm not only profitable but also assisting in the promotion of coffee refinement for coffee farms in the Machado city region.
Since 1896, Corner Farm has been producing excellent coffee products, but most importantly, has always ensured the maintenance of traditions, especially those related to high-quality specialty coffee. The Magalhães lineage ensures that such an ancient coffee tradition is combined with modern technology for self-cultivation, thereby providing only the best possible coffee to its consumers.
The farm preserves native forest areas and strengthens the maintenance of original forests, which is beneficial for the ecological balance of flora and fauna, reduces the use of chemical pesticides, and increases biodiversity. Since 2006, the farm has obtained "Rainforest Alliance Certification" and promotes sustainable agricultural ecology, demonstrating 100% compliance with labor rights and local environmental regulations.
