FrontStreet Coffee · Mandheling Flavor Profile and Differences Between Varieties

Characteristics: Low Acidity, Rich Body, Unique Herbal and Woody Aromas

I believe everyone must be familiar with FrontStreet Coffee's Mandheling coffee.

Currently, we can almost say that Mandheling is synonymous with Indonesian specialty coffee.

Its main producing regions are located on the islands of Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi.

However, it has different grades based on region and harvesting methods.

Let's first help everyone understand the differences based on harvesting methods.

FrontStreet Coffee · Lintong Mandheling

Due to Indonesia's humid climate, the coffee cherry mucilage layer is dried in three stages using a division of labor approach.

This is a rare processing method worldwide. But because of this accidental discovery, it created Mandheling's special characteristics: low acidity, thick body, and mellow aroma.

FrontStreet Coffee · Golden Mandheling

Produced in Sumatra, this is excellent coffee beans that Japanese people strictly manage and monitor throughout the picking, processing, and bean integrity processes.

After four rounds of manual bean selection, defective beans are removed. The color is dark green, and the beans are uniform in appearance.

The flavor is bright and clean. The original herbal and earthy notes of Mandheling are almost gone, replaced by more prominent caramel sweetness.

FrontStreet Coffee · Emerald Mandheling

This Emerald Mandheling comes from Tunas Indah Coffee Farmer Cooperative in Aceh Province, Sumatra. The producing region is in the Gayo Mountains of northern Sumatra.

The Gayo Mountains are one of the world's most famous Mandheling producing regions. The green beans appear gem-like dark green in color. They are completely hand-picked and manually sorted three times.

The flavor is mellow, sweet, and delicate, without the typical earthy and weedy notes of regular Mandheling. The acidity is weak and不明显, with moderate richness, long aftertaste, and distinctive herbal notes. This is a coffee that you can savor like fine wine.

Wine is very masculine, and Mandheling is also very masculine. If you want to create a coffee with masculine character like wine, you can't miss it—Indonesian Mandheling.
