Miralvalle Estate

Estate founder Benjamin "Mincho" Villatoro began focusing on producing special, refined coffee in 1970, establishing Finca Miralvalle in the mountains of Huehuetenango. The estate covers 30 hectares, with altitudes ranging from 1,500 to 1,900 meters, annual rainfall of 1,800 millimeters, and mixed cultivation of Bourbon and Caturra varieties.

Founder Benjamin passed away in 2013, and current estate owner Jorge Villatoro inherited Benjamin's legacy, continuing to strive for the flavor and quality of specialty coffee.

Since 2014, Miralvalle Estate has achieved "Excellence" awards for three consecutive years in the Huehuetenango Highland Coffee Competition, proving that Miralvalle coffee best represents the flavor profile of Huehuetenango.

Additionally, Miralvalle Estate has been listed in Guatemala's Cup of Excellence (C.O.E.) for four consecutive years.

In 2016, the C.O.E. ranking placed it 10th overall in Guatemala.

Guatemalan coffee grows in the high-altitude cloud belt, where the significant temperature difference between morning and evening causes coffee to grow at a slower pace. Because rapid coffee growth results in softer beans with more subdued flavors, these climatic conditions are ideal. Combined with fertile volcanic soil, Guatemala's coffee growing conditions are the most ideal among Central American countries.

Unlike coffee from other Central American countries, which typically has cleaner and fresher flavor profiles, Guatemalan coffee exhibits more diverse styles due to varying altitudes in different growing regions. The two major producing regions, Antigua near the capital and the northwestern Huehuetenango highlands, define the world's perception of Guatemalan coffee. Antigua coffee offers better richness and subtle smoky notes, while Huehuetenango highlands are distinguished by delicate citrus acidity.

The Chinese translation of the place name "Huehuetenango Highlands" carries great elegance. Located in northwestern Guatemala, the highlands feature fertile soil and abundant rainfall. The unique cloud belt created by the highland's distinctive circular valley topography represents nature's gift of the finest coffee growing environment. Therefore, the Huehuetenango Highlands are renowned worldwide for producing exceptional quality coffee. Most of the award-winning coffee beans in Guatemala's annual coffee competitions come from the Huehuetenango Highlands, earning excellent international recognition.
