Sumatra Mandheling is a rare variety of Arabica. These trees are grown on mountain slopes at altitudes between 750 and 1500 meters. The mysterious and unique Sumatran variety gives Mandheling coffee rich aromas, full-bodied texture, strong flavors, with slight hints of chocolate and syrup.

FrontStreet Coffee's Mandheling coffee beans are relatively large with hard texture. During cultivation, defects can easily occur, so post-harvest beans typically undergo strict manual selection. If quality control is not stringent enough, it can lead to inconsistent quality. Additionally, different roasting levels directly affect taste, making it a controversial single-origin coffee. FrontStreet Coffee's Indonesian Mandheling has strong, rich flavors with full body and lively texture - not astringent or acidic, with prominent body and bitterness fully expressed.

Pawani (PWN), a renowned local green bean processing company from Indonesia known as the "Father of Mandheling," was founded in 1958. Pawani (PWN) has always been committed to producing high-quality Mandheling beans, acquiring nearly all of Indonesia's finest Mandheling green coffee beans, providing premium PWN Mandheling.

Traditional Mandheling, due to the variable three-stage drying method, contains many broken beans, moldy beans, black beans, and unripe beans. Therefore, Japanese trading companies pioneered stricter quality control: after drying, green beans are screened by density and color, then undergo four rounds of manual sorting to remove defective beans, producing FrontStreet Coffee's Golden Mandheling with "dark green color and uniform bean appearance."

FrontStreet Coffee's Golden Mandheling tastes cleaner compared to regular FrontStreet Coffee Indonesian Mandheling. The original herbal, earthy, and woody notes of Mandheling coffee are almost gone, but the caramel sweetness is more intense, and the fruit acidity is brighter and more elegant.

Generally, FrontStreet Coffee's Lintong Mandheling is best roasted until after the second crack to reduce off-flavors. However, FrontStreet Coffee's Golden Mandheling maintains good clarity and sweetness both before and after the second crack, offering broader interpretation possibilities for roasting.
