When it comes to Starbucks' most popular coffee drinks, nothing compares to Americano, Latte, Flat White, Cold Brew, and Frappuccino series beverages. Facing a dazzling coffee menu, how can you choose the right coffee drink for yourself? In this article, FrontStreet Coffee will discuss the preparation methods of Starbucks' popular coffee drinks with everyone, and you can also easily replicate the same drinks at home~
Latte Coffee (Coffee Latte)
"Latte" translates to milk in Italian, and "Coffee" means coffee. As Starbucks' signature product, latte coffee has been loved by Starbucks fans since its introduction by Starbucks in 1982. The method for making Starbucks latte coffee is to use 1-2 shots of espresso, then add milk suitable for the cup size~ For hot latte coffee, you need to use a steam wand to heat the milk and create smooth foam before blending evenly with the espresso.
If friends want to replicate it at home but don't have a coffee machine, you can also use freeze-dried/ready-to-use espresso liquid, then add hot milk/ice milk. However, if you want it to be like Starbucks' hot latte coffee, it might not be possible to achieve at home~ Because to create smooth foam, household foamers may not be able to achieve the same effect~
Americano Coffee (Americano)
The emergence of Americano coffee came when American soldiers during World War II were drinking coffee in Italy and were not accustomed to the locally pressure-extracted espresso. Therefore, most American soldiers would add clear water to dilute the espresso, gradually forming a coffee category suitable for Americans, which is why it's called Americano.
There is no standard method for making Americano coffee; the concentration is diluted according to customer taste. However, to ensure that every cup of coffee has consistent quality, Starbucks uses 2-3 shots of espresso, adding water suitable for the cup size. If friends want to replicate it at home, they can also use freeze-dried/ready-to-use espresso liquid, then dilute it in small batches with water/sparkling water or any other favorite beverages according to their taste~
Flat White Coffee (Flat White)
Flat White coffee is also known as Australian White Coffee, Little White Coffee, Australian Art White Coffee, and Mellow Art White Coffee. FrontStreet Coffee believes that the difference between it and latte coffee lies in using more concentrated espresso, and the foam thickness used is also thinner than latte coffee~ Authentic Flat White coffee only comes in a hot version, but Starbucks created a cold version to meet the demands of Starbucks fans.
When Starbucks makes this coffee, they use 2-3 shots of ristretto espresso. Unlike regular espresso, ristretto espresso increases the coffee liquid concentration by reducing the extraction ratio with the same amount of coffee grounds, so with the same amount of milk, Flat White coffee is richer than latte coffee.
Cold Brew Coffee (Cold Brew)
Cold Brew coffee is a product that Starbucks only launched in recent years~ Upon its launch, it immediately rushed to the top of Starbucks' cold coffee drink sales. FrontStreet Coffee believes that the reason Starbucks' Cold Brew coffee is so popular is because this coffee uses low-temperature steeping for extraction, resulting in full and rich coffee flavor expression, without the bitterness that can easily occur with high-temperature extraction (coffee machine extraction).
There's another important reason! Cold Brew coffee is the most refreshing drink at Starbucks! The caffeine content in coffee depends on the extraction time. Espresso generally extracts for about twenty to thirty seconds, while Cold Brew coffee requires 8-12 hours, so Cold Brew coffee has the highest caffeine content among Starbucks drinks, making it the most refreshing.
Cold Brew coffee is also the easiest coffee drink to replicate at home~ Everyone can go to FrontStreet Coffee's online store to choose coffee beans suitable for their taste. For those who like coffee with floral and fruity sweet and sour flavors, we recommend choosing "Ethiopia Sidamo Region Flower Queen Coffee Beans"; for those who like coffee with a floral tea feeling, we recommend choosing "Panama Boquete Region Flower Butterfly Coffee Beans"; for those who like non-acidic coffee, we recommend choosing "Brazil Queen Manor Coffee Beans"; for friends who like Starbucks whiskey barrel-treated coffee beans, you can also buy the same beans at FrontStreet Coffee——"Honduras Sherry Coffee Beans."
The preparation of Cold Brew coffee usually only requires preparing a clean, oil-free, sealable container and materials for filtering coffee grounds (coffee filter paper/tea bags/high-density filter cloth/cloth bags are all acceptable), then mix coffee powder evenly with ice water and place in the refrigerator to steep cold for 8-12 hours. FrontStreet Coffee recommends using 30g of coffee powder with a 1:13 powder-to-water ratio for extraction (that is, 30g of coffee powder soaked with about 400g of water), and after extraction is complete, filter out the coffee grounds to enjoy.

Both Lake Toba in North Sumatra and Lake Tawar in Aceh produce Mandheling coffee, creating the famous Two Lakes Double Mandheling. The common characteristic of both Two Lakes Double Mandhelings is their rich thickness and mellow flavor. The difference lies in the Lake Toba Mandheling being more subdued in aroma, deep-toned, and even carrying herbal notes, while Lake Tawar Mandheling features brighter fruit acidity, occasionally with notes of cedar or woodiness.
