Nicaraguan Coffee Characteristics

Nicaraguan coffee offers deep, low-profile flavors with chocolate and caramel sweetness, featuring prominent almond notes and bright acidity. Unlike the typical bright, fruit-forward acidity common in Central American coffees, Nicaraguan beans present a distinct profile. The country's coffee-growing ecosystem benefits from exceptional natural conditions, with fertile volcanic soil prevalent throughout and shade-growing practices that establish excellent growing conditions. This combination ensures that Nicaraguan beans not only possess rich body but also delicate aromas, making them highly regarded by international coffee connoisseurs and increasingly valued in the specialty coffee community.

Elephant Beans (Maragogype)

Elephant beans, also known as giant coffee beans, are three times larger or more than other coffee beans. Their taxonomic name is Maragogype, originating from the Maragogype district in Bahia state, Brazil. In 1870, this variety was first established taxonomically as a giant coffee bean in that district, representing an Arabica derivative (hybrid variety).

Flavor Profile

This coffee delivers full-bodied flavors with both bright, stone fruit acidity and rich, spicy sweetness. The diverse taste experience includes apricot-peach, vanilla, mint chocolate, pineapple, citrus, and caramel sweetness. Truly deserving of its reputation as an exceptional bean!
