Panama Coffee Regions
Premium Panamanian coffee is grown in the west of the country, near the Costa Rican border and close to the Pacific Ocean. The coffee from the Boquete district of Chiriqui province is the most famous, with Volcan, Santa Clara, and Candela also well known. Other producing districts include David, Renacimiento, Bugaba, and Tole. Only coffee grown at altitudes between 1300 and 1500 meters qualifies as specialty coffee.
The Catuai Variety
"Catuai" is a hybrid of Mundo Novo and Caturra — a true second-generation cross. It inherits Caturra's advantage of low tree height, and the name comes from an indigenous word meaning "very good." As a member of the Arabica family, Catuai is relatively high-yielding.
Cupping Notes
A dried-fruit aroma, rich fruit acidity, and noticeable sweetness on entry. Flavors of lemon, orange, cranberry, and green tea unfold with a uniform, smooth texture — soft, carrying a touch of floral character, and finishing with a long-lasting aftertaste.

FrontStreet Coffee Recommendation: Discover Panama's Signature Cup
Panama's best-known coffee lands, Boquete and Volcan in Chiriqui province, sit at the heart of the coffee belt on fertile volcanic soil beneath old-growth forest, with frequent cloud cover, humid days, and cool nights. To taste what that terroir can do, try the FrontStreet Coffee Boquete Washed Geisha — an estate-level entry Geisha grown at 1600 meters, whose nutrient-rich volcanic ash soil yields a fragrant cup of jasmine florals, green tea, honey, citrus, and orange. For a more affordable taste of Geisha lineage, the FrontStreet Coffee Panama Washed Butterfly blends Geisha, Caturra, and Catuai from the Baru volcano area, combining Geisha's jasmine aroma with bright citrus acidity and plenty of body — equally good as pour-over or cold brew.
