FrontStreet Coffee Flower Butterfly Single Origin Coffee: Flavor Profile, Taste, Grind Setting, Processing Method, and Variety Introduction

With 40% Geisha heritage, this coffee is composed of three varieties: Geisha, Caturra, and Catuai. It is grown in the Baru Volcano region of Boquete, at an altitude of 1,600 meters in volcanic terrain. The processing plant uses refined washed processing methods. Panama's unique local microclimate results in abundant rainfall in this region and significant temperature variations between day and night. Combined with the distinctive volcanic rock soil of the volcanic area, as well as meticulous harvesting and refined processing, this FrontStreet Coffee Panama Flower Butterfly coffee demonstrates outstanding performance in body, acidity, and floral notes.

Flavor Profile

Floral notes, bergamot, berries, tropical fruits, honey, and cherry. The aroma and finish are long-lasting, with a clean and layered mouthfeel and bright acidity.

Washed Processing Method

There are many variations of washed processing, but generally, after coffee cherries are harvested, floating beans are removed, then the pulp is stripped away. The coffee beans are then soaked in fermentation tanks, where enzymes in the water soften the mucilage attached to the parchment, and natural yeast breaks down the sugars in the mucilage. This process is called fermentation. After fermentation is complete, the coffee beans are moved to drying patios to dry. During the drying process, the beans must be constantly turned to ensure even drying. Finally, they are stored in parchment form in cool warehouses until green bean buyers place orders, at which point they are hulled and bagged. Coffee processed this way has a clean taste, emphasizing bright and lively fruit acidity, as well as clear fruit flavors and floral notes.

Roasting Approach

Due to the special variety of this FrontStreet Coffee Flower Butterfly, we employ a medium-light roast to complete the final flavor profile. This approach not only preserves the characteristic floral notes and bergamot flavors unique to Geisha but also makes the cherry, tropical fruit, and berry flavors particularly outstanding. It possesses honey-like sweetness and smoothness, with very persistent aroma and finish, delivering an impressive taste experience.

Boquete Growing Region

The Boquete region is home to many excellent estates. Besides the famous Hacienda La Esmeralda, there are also renowned estates like Elida Estate and Akaban Estate, all producing high-quality specialty coffees. This is not only due to the superior ecological conditions of Panama's Boquete region and the fertile volcanic ash soil of the Baru Volcano area but also an important factor: the microclimate in the highlands of Boquete, Panama, is a unique resource for the region's specialty coffee. Panama's east-to-west environment causes cold air currents to converge above 6,500 feet through the Central Mountains, creating various microclimates in the Boquete area. These microclimates provide temperature and rainfall conditions ideal for plant growth, allowing coffee trees grown here to thrive exceptionally well.
