Geisha originates from a very rare wild variety in Ethiopia. The bean's name may come from the coffee beans discovered near a small local village called Geisha. The coffee trees grow tall with slender leaves, are resistant to coffee leaf rust, and are characterized by widely spaced branches on the trunk. The green beans are slender in shape, and the roasted beans have strong, intense fruity aroma characteristics. Due to the low harvest yield of this variety, it cannot be acquired for commercial trade.

Coffee was first cultivated in the Americas around the 1720s. Today, coffee cultivation holds an extremely important economic position in Panama. The Republic of Panama was established on November 3, 1903. A coffee processing plant with nearly a century of history is located in a charming dense tropical rainforest valley.

The first batch of coffee exported from Panama each year ships in November, with almost all high-quality coffee beans sent to France and Finland. Panama coffee generally belongs to the mid-to-low price range, but its performance in the cup often rivals any famous and even expensive coffee producing regions. Panama specialty coffee sells at the highest level in the international market. Panama has appeared among the world's best coffee producing countries for the past three years, surprising many countries that have long been pioneers in coffee development. Panama's main coffee producing region is in the west, bordering Costa Rica, producing excellent washed processed coffee. Compared to coffee beans grown in low to mid-altitude regions, Panama's high-altitude low temperatures and stable climate are more beneficial to coffee bean growth. Coffee beans grown here grow slowly, have the most intense and special flavors, and the coffee hardness is also the hardest.

The Boquete region of Panama is located in the Chiriquí province bordering Costa Rica and is famous for producing Panama's renowned Geisha coffee, known worldwide for producing high-quality Arabica coffee. The Tedman & MacIntyre Estate, located in the Boquete mountain region at 4000 feet altitude, originates from two of Panama's earliest coffee families: the Tedman family and the MacIntyre family. In 1925, Canadian fruit merchant Alexander Duncan MacIntyre, inspired by his brother Joseph, came to settle in Boquete. That same year, he married Angela Rosas and purchased an estate named "LA CAROLINA," beginning to plant coffee. Their descendants still own this estate today, which has become one of the most famous coffee estates in the region.
