Recommended Amount

Use approximately 10-15g of Blue Mountain coffee powder per cup to brew 6-8oz of coffee.

Steps for Brewing Blue Mountain Coffee with a Siphon Pot

Step 1: Grind the Coffee Beans

Grind size: 4.5

Step 2: Hook the Filter

Ensure there are no gaps between the filter and the glass container. Gaps not only allow coffee grounds to fall into the water below but also cause air leakage that affects extraction efficiency.

Step 3: Add Water to the Lower Chamber and Heat

Add an appropriate amount of water to the lower chamber and heat with an alcohol lamp. To save time, you can use hot water.

Step 4: Pour Coffee Grounds into the Upper Chamber

Remember not to insert the upper chamber immediately.

Step 5: Move the Alcohol Lamp to One Side of the Lower Chamber

Once the water boils, move the alcohol lamp to one side of the lower chamber. This is done to adjust the flame to low heat, thereby reducing the water temperature.

Step 6: Insert the Upper Chamber

When the water temperature drops to around 92-96°C, insert the upper chamber. This begins the extraction process, where water from the lower chamber rushes up into the upper chamber and immerses the coffee grounds.

Step 7: First Stirring

After the water rises, use a stirring rod to stir in a cross pattern: 2 vertical strokes and 2 horizontal strokes. Be careful not to let the stirring rod touch the filter cloth at the bottom of the chamber.

Step 8: Second Stirring

Wait 30 seconds after the first stirring, then stir 2-3 times in a clockwise spiral motion. Be careful not to let the stirring rod touch the filter cloth at the bottom of the chamber.

Step 9: Final Stirring

Wait another 30 seconds after the second stirring, then perform one final spiral stir at a faster speed. Be careful not to let the stirring rod touch the filter cloth at the bottom of the chamber.

Step 10: Finish Brewing

Wait 30 seconds after the final stirring, and before the fine white foam on the coffee surface breaks, remove the alcohol lamp. Then wipe the lower chamber surface with a damp cloth to cool it quickly, causing the coffee liquid to flow rapidly back into the lower chamber.

Step 11: Serve

Pour the coffee from the lower chamber into a pre-warmed coffee cup and enjoy.

Key Point

If the coffee grounds in the center swell up like a small hill, it indicates successful extraction.
