The Coffee Workshop: Crafting Coffee with Heart
Drip bags are a patented design developed by the Japanese. The coffee powder inside is contained in a filter bag, with cardboard clips on both sides that can be hung on a cup. After brewing, it can be discarded, allowing you to conveniently enjoy ground coffee as if brewed by drip filtration. Drip bag coffee is instant-brew, freshly ground coffee. The drip method completes the coffee brewing process, perfectly expressing the acidity, sweetness, bitterness, richness, and aroma of the coffee. As long as you have access to hot water and coffee cups, you can easily enjoy it. Suitable for coffee enthusiasts traveling long distances or for use on the go.
Steps to Make Coffee with Drip Bags:
① Carefully and neatly open the packaging bag along the tear提示口;
② After flattening the drip bag, tear open the powder package seal. Spread the drip bag evenly and hang it on the coffee cup rim;
③ Prepare a pot of boiling water (the recommended water temperature for brewing coffee is between 85℃-95℃), with purified water being best. After the water boils, let it sit for about 1 minute before pouring. When pouring the boiling water, evenly pour hot water into the filter bag (note that the speed should not be too fast, and the water flow should not be too large to avoid overflow). After the liquid level in the filter bag drops, pour again. When the coffee liquid in the cup reaches 7/10 full, or according to personal preference, carefully remove and discard the drip bag.
④ Please drink the delicious drip bag coffee immediately after brewing is complete. You can also add sugar or pure milk for seasoning according to personal preference. (For single-origin specialty coffees, direct consumption is recommended to avoid additives affecting the expression of the coffee's unique characteristics);
⑤ To ensure the perfect flavor expression of each coffee, it is recommended to discard each coffee bag after one brew.
1. What is Drip Bag Coffee?
Similar to tea bags, but containing ground coffee powder instead. The coffee bag has hard paper "drip ears" on both sides that can be hung directly on the coffee cup rim. When drinking, first warm the coffee cup with boiling water, then unfold the coffee drip bag and hang it on the cup rim, then pour hot water from an electric kettle over it. The coffee liquid will filter into the coffee cup. After brewing, throw away the extracted coffee drip bag, and you can drink the coffee. It's very convenient!
2. What's the Difference Between Drip Bag Coffee and Instant Coffee?
Drip bag coffee is made from 100% original bean ground coffee, with no other additives. It contains hundreds of health-beneficial components that can resist liver damage, various cancers, asthma, heart disease, and Parkinson's disease. Drinking 2-4 cups of coffee daily is beneficial. Non-coffee drinkers are more likely to suffer from these diseases than coffee drinkers. Research results from the American Coffee Institute show that coffee contains anti-dementia substances that can reduce the impact of harmful substances on the body and help prevent some diseases.
However, "instant coffee" cannot be considered coffee - this is a universally recognized view in the traditional coffee world. Instant coffee is an industrial synthetic product. In specific environments such as long-distance travel on trains and airplanes, it's a decent coffee substitute, but it's no longer coffee in its original sense. This is because traditional coffee enjoyment is very particular about everything from bean grinding, brewing, filtering, to the selection of equipment and different preparation techniques. During the synthesis process of instant coffee, the original nutritional and health components are destroyed and disappear. When drinking, although it has a coffee taste, it has lost the rich nutritional components and health benefits of coffee, as well as the profound cultural taste and atmosphere.
3. What Are the Characteristics of Drip Bag Coffee? How Is the Quality?
With fresh roasting and continuous preservation as main considerations, it's exquisitely roasted by top professional baristas, using Japanese-style new drip filter bags to easily extract exceptionally flavorful coffee. Each bag contains about 9g, with optimal flavor when used with 150c.c of water. When brewing, first inject a small amount of hot water to awaken the coffee powder that has been sleeping in nitrogen packaging, and let it sit for ten seconds to release the coffee aroma before injecting hot water to fill the cup. If you prefer it stronger, you can soak the filter paper bag containing coffee in water for 40-180 seconds.
4. I've Been Drinking Instant Coffee - Will I Get Used to Drip Bag Coffee?
Many friends who drink instant coffee did so because instant coffee entered the market early, and that was all that was available. Some drank it for stimulation, some for convenience, etc. Now, coffee culture is becoming more widespread, coffee varieties are increasingly rich, while requirements for coffee taste are getting higher, and there's a growing need for high-quality coffee. Those who have drunk instant coffee will get used to this quickly. Drinking drip bags is actually tasting coffee - it can express various characteristics of coffee, and it's also very convenient to carry when going to work or traveling.
