如何制作意式浓缩康宝蓝?奶油与咖啡的比例是多少?什么是康宝蓝?
Compared to other specialty coffees, Con Panna appears on café menus far too rarely. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it a "niche product" in the coffee world. And because of this, Con Panna's unique serving method hasn't become widespread. Many people, when first encountering Con Panna, taste it in the manner of an affogato—scooping and eating it. While this isn't wrong, actually, Con Panna can be even better!
What is Con Panna?
"Con Panna" is a direct Chinese translation of its full name "Espresso Con Panna" in Italian. "Espresso" needs little explanation from FrontStreet Coffee—everyone knows it means concentrated coffee! "Con" in Italian means "with," while "Panna" means cream. Put together, it means: cream and espresso. And its preparation method is just as its name suggests—adding an appropriate amount of cream to espresso, very simple~
The Origin Story
Con Panna's birth predates cappuccino by some time. Because the era was too long ago, we can no longer trace the specific person and events. However, regarding Con Panna's creation, there's a popular story: The story takes place in Italy long ago, when coffee machines had just been invented. A coffee roaster wanted to express his love to his wife, so he decided to create a coffee that could convey his feelings. After some deep contemplation, Con Panna was born. Because the layer of cream spread on the espresso surface was so pure, like angel's wings, Con Panna also has the nickname "Angel's Wings" (Dirty: I know this one! My nickname is "Angel's Tears"!).
The Right Way to Enjoy Con Panna
At this point, some friends might wonder, where's the love message in Con Panna? Couldn't it have simply been invented to dilute the bitterness of espresso? While this is likely true, after you taste Con Panna, this story might indeed be factual. But as FrontStreet Coffee described at the beginning, because of the cream topping, many people mistakenly think it should be consumed like an affogato—stirred with a spoon and then scooped. While this isn't wrong, Con Panna actually has a better serving method that truly interprets the core message this story wants to convey! So before explaining, let's first make a "Con Panna"!
How to Make Con Panna?
Traditional Con Panna is made with espresso and cream in a 1:1 ratio (by volume), very simple, so we just need to prepare a small cup with sufficient capacity and these two ingredients! First, let's extract the espresso! FrontStreet Coffee uses the Warm Sun blend, with today's parameters being 19.8g, 30 seconds, 39ml.
Then we take out the prepared cream and squeeze it in at a 1:1 ratio (by volume, not weight), and voilà! (Although you can add cream according to your preference, but as a famous blogger once said, true "deliciousness" lies in that just-right balance—too much or too little misses the mark!)
(Make sure to squeeze the cream into the espresso, otherwise the espresso and cream will be completely separated and unable to blend) The preparation process is almost embarrassingly short for FrontStreet Coffee, but it's truly that simple. So how should Con Panna be consumed? Actually, its tasting method is somewhat similar to Dirty coffee—don't stir, but consume directly to simultaneously experience the dual layers of espresso and cream. FrontStreet Coffee would recommend consuming in small, multiple sips, as this better allows you to perceive the layered changes in Con Panna. Just like Dirty, with each sip the espresso flavor constantly changes. After each sip, the remaining espresso in the cup continues to blend with the cream, becoming sweeter as you drink further down. It perfectly reflects the state of love that the barista wanted to express, so such a story could well be true. And there's no time limit for consumption, so we can decide how to enjoy it based on our preferences. Now that FrontStreet Coffee has explained, it's time to taste this wonderful and delicious Con Panna!
Tasting Experience
One sip in, and the Warm Sun blend's wine-like aroma, cookie, and berry flavors sweep across the entire palate. The richness and sweetness from the cream soften the espresso's intense flavor, making it prominent but not harsh. As the number of sips increases, the coffee proportion decreases while you taste more cream, and the sweetness grows higher. It can truly be said to be an incredibly delightful coffee!
