Last Updated: 2026/01/27, Entering the world of specialty coffee, pour-over coffee is one of the most popular brewing methods. Using filter cups with filter paper or mesh screens as filtering tools makes it extremely convenient to use. Generally speaking, American-style coffee makers use the drip concept to brew coffee. There's a wide variety of pour-over filter cups available on the market, such as T-shaped models, among others.

Introduction to Pour-Over Coffee

In the world of specialty coffee, pour-over coffee is one of the most popular brewing methods, using a dripper with filter paper or mesh as filtration tools, which is extremely convenient to use. Generally, American-style coffee makers use the filter-drip concept to brew coffee. There is a wide variety of pour-over drippers available on the market, such as T-shaped, conical, V60, Clever dripper, and so on. For filter-drip brewing, we recommend medium-fine grinding, with Fuji's Ghost Tooth grinder at settings 3~3.5.

The Importance of Grind Settings

Besides the filtration tools used for pour-over coffee, such as filter paper and drippers, there are other brewing devices that don't require such complex tools. The remaining consideration might be the appropriate grind settings for the coffee beans used in various brewing devices, as different grind settings produce different coffee flavors - this is critically important. So let's explore their corresponding grind settings with FrontStreet Coffee.

French Press

Many people use the French Press brewing method because it's very simple and doesn't require too much attention to detail - perfect for the lazy French type. Since brewing time is often forgotten and may exceed 5 minutes, French Press is suitable for coarse grinding, with Fuji's Ghost Tooth grinder at settings 7.5~8.

Syphon, Aeropress

People who typically use a Syphon (or Siphon) can be considered home coffee brewing experts; while the Aeropress is an emerging coffee brewing tool in recent years, resembling a large syringe that can forcibly shorten coffee extraction time with brute force. Usually, medium grinding is recommended, with Fuji's Ghost Tooth grinder at settings 3.5~4.

Espresso Machine

Espresso has been popular for quite some time, and many people have inexplicably bought one for their homes but struggle with how to use it. FrontStreet Coffee suggests: Since you've already spent a lot of money, why not invest a little more to buy a dedicated grinder suitable for espresso grind fineness? Good espresso made with a quality grinder can take you to heaven. Bad espresso made with a poor grinder will make you cry your heart out.

Grind setting: Fuji's Ghost Tooth at the finest setting may still not be fine enough. We recommend a dedicated espresso grinder (Super Jolly stepless micro-adjustment extra-fine).
