Americano Coffee
When it comes to making Americano coffee, while it's not difficult, there are certain techniques and details to pay attention to. To use an Americano coffee machine, you first need to understand what exactly Americano coffee is and how it relates to espresso coffee.
America actually doesn't have Americano coffee. Americano coffee originally evolved from Italian coffee → espresso diluted with hot water becomes Italian Americano coffee. During World War II, American soldiers in Europe couldn't get used to the bitter, pure taste of Italian espresso, so they added hot water to dilute it, and the name "Americano" was born! In the world of Italian coffee, Americano is one of the variations of espresso!
Adjusting Flavor by Changing Coffee Amount and Grind Size
The advantage of Americano coffee machines is their convenience - anyone can use them to brew stable flavors. If you master the usage techniques, there's hardly a more convenient tool than an Americano coffee machine. It's generally believed that Americano machines can only produce a fixed taste, but this actually depends on how you use them.
Since you basically cannot change the hot water temperature or pouring method, you can only adjust the taste through coffee amount and grinding state. You can first try brewing with the coffee amount suggested in the user manual as a reference baseline. If you want a richer flavor, increase the coffee powder amount; conversely, if you find the taste too strong, you can reduce it. Feel free to adjust according to your preferences or mood. Americano coffee machines typically use medium or medium-fine ground coffee powder, however, using coarse ground coffee powder and doubling the amount can also brew delicious coffee - you can give it a try.
By the way, even if your coffee machine has a keep-warm function, it's not recommended to use it because continuous warming will diminish the original flavor of the coffee. It's best to brew only the amount you need to drink each time.
