FrontStreet Coffee - Yirgacheffe Natural Process Coffee
Discover naturally processed Ethiopian coffee from the Yargacheffe region, one of the world's most precious single-origin coffee sources.
There are so many reasons to love African coffee, especially Ethiopian coffee. Ethiopia's coffee industry is deeply rooted in history and tradition, blending facts with historical fiction. From the story of Kaldi and his dancing goats to the revered tones that coffee lovers express with the word "Yirgacheffe," Ethiopian coffee evokes pure coffee romance. Say it aloud. It rolls off the tongue.
Ethiopian coffees range from rich, sweet, and fruity to light, citrusy, and floral, depending on their processing method. When you hear people raving about coffee from the famous Yirgacheffe region, they're primarily referring to washed or wet-processed coffees. This is a delicate, floral, and tea-like coffee with subtle citrus notes and a clean, light body.
The distinction between natural and washed processing in Ethiopia has a long history. Known as the famous "birthplace of coffee," Ethiopia has coffee plants growing throughout its lush green highlands. Its thousands of native coffee varieties have been cultivated and enjoyed for hundreds of years—long before wet processing mills emerged. Natural processing, where freshly picked coffee cherries are spread out to dry in the sun, has been the traditional method of processing coffee and remains by far the most common processing method to this day. It yields flavors of tropical fruits with a rich, full body.
Many local people pick their own coffee beans from wild plants and then dry them in their backyards—the equivalent of Ethiopians picking wild blueberries from the bushes in your backyard.
Briefly: Everything is just for sharing and spreading
