FrontStreet Coffee Costa Rica Pour-Over Coffee Tutorial

FrontStreet Coffee's Costa Rica coffee has quite high global recognition, with high-quality coffee beans known as "Strictly Hard Beans" (SHB), which can grow at altitudes above 1500 meters. Altitude has always been a challenge for coffee growers. The higher the altitude, the better the coffee beans. This is not only because higher altitudes increase the acidity of coffee beans, thereby enhancing flavor, but also because the lower nighttime temperatures at higher elevations slow tree growth, resulting in more concentrated coffee bean flavors. Additionally, the altitude differences create abundant rainfall, which is very beneficial for coffee tree growth.

Today, we're going to teach everyone how to brew FrontStreet Coffee's light roast Costa Rica coffee beans. Required tools: Dripper, filter paper, coffee grinder, digital scale, pour-over kettle, coffee pot, coffee cup, and coffee beans.

Brewing Steps

1. Weigh beans and boil water. While boiling water, weigh coffee beans according to the coffee cup capacity. TIPS: The usual water-to-coffee ratio is 1:15, for example: 225ml of water with 15 grams of coffee beans.

2. Grind beans. Grind the coffee beans into coffee powder using a coffee grinder.

3. Fold filter paper. Flatten the filter paper, fold it along the crease line, and place it in the filter cup.

4. Add coffee. Pour hot water into the pour-over kettle, pour the ground coffee powder into the filter cup to wet the filter paper and warm the cup. Lightly pour a few times to evenly distribute the coffee powder in the filter cup. TIPS: Water temperature between 89°C - 94°C is optimal.

5. Bloom. Start the first water pour for about 30-40 seconds. TIPS: Don't pour too much water during the first pour; just enough to wet the coffee powder.

6. Second pour. Pour hot water from the center outward in a circular motion until the water reaches 7/8 of the filter cup.

7. Finally, remove the filter cup, gently shake the coffee pot to allow the freshly dripped coffee to fully mix, and pour the coffee into the coffee cup to enjoy while hot!
