FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopia Sidamo Guji Washed Introduction

The Sidamo growing region sits at an elevation of 1800-2300 meters and is a renowned specialty coffee area in southern Ethiopia. The famous Yirgacheffe is actually a small town within Sidamo. The Sidamo region borders Kenya.

Sidamo Region

Sidamo coffee characteristics are incredibly diverse. Various soil types, microclimates, and countless native coffee varieties have created distinct differences and characteristics in coffees produced by different towns. From 2010 to 2012, it consistently achieved high scores of 92-94 on the authoritative American coffee evaluation website CR. This demonstrates the extraordinary quality of coffee from this region. The area features towering mountains, highlands, plateaus, valleys, and plains with diverse topography. The local geology consists of nutrient-rich, well-drained volcanic soil with a depth of nearly two meters. The surface soil appears dark brown or brown. The region's greatest advantage is that soil fertility is maintained through organic matter cycling, using fallen leaves from surrounding trees or plant residues as fertilizer.

This coffee comes from the Guji area of Ethiopia's Sidamo region, Grade G1, grown at approximately 1800-2300 meters elevation, processed using the washed method, and medium roasted. Sidamo green coffee beans have an oval shape, slightly pointed at both ends, appear somewhat small but are deep green in color with uniform particles; the aroma is pure.
