Today, Hacienda La Esmeralda has become the most renowned estate in the global specialty coffee industry, while Panama has gained fame for its outstanding quality specialty coffee.
Geisha is more precious than gold because of its extremely low yield and the necessity to participate in bidding, making it very difficult to obtain Geisha green beans.
Geisha is a Very Delicate Plant
Compared to other coffee varieties, its leaf system is very thin, which means its photosynthesis efficiency is far lower than other varieties. Most importantly, its root system is also fragile, which reduces water and energy intake. A Geisha coffee tree produces only half the coffee beans that the Catuai variety produces.
Precision Timing is Required for Processing Geisha
Geisha needs to be harvested at the most appropriate moment of ripeness and must undergo post-processing immediately.
Geisha Also Comes in Various Processing Methods: Natural, Washed, and Honey
Natural: Coffee is dried directly with the skin and pulp intact. The entire process takes about 9 days. It has moderate body, distinct sweetness, with notes of ginger flower, jasmine, and fermented aromas.
Washed: The most common coffee post-processing method, where the pulp and mucilage of the coffee fruit are removed before drying.
