Introduction to FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe Coffee
The Yirgacheffe coffee we often refer to comes from the small town of Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia, Africa. Since most coffees are named after their production area, it's naturally called Yirgacheffe. The Yirgacheffe town is situated at an altitude between 1,700 and 2,100 meters. This area has been a wetland since ancient times. In the local language, "Yirga" means "to settle down" and "Cheffe" means "wetland." The coffee produced here has unique citrus and floral flavors, making it one of the highest-altitude coffee-producing regions in the world and synonymous with Ethiopian specialty coffee, hence its renowned reputation.
Yirgacheffe belongs to the Arabica bean variety. Although the beans are small, they are remarkably impressive, making it a single-origin coffee with rich flavors. Typically, these beans are lightly roasted. Light roasting reveals unique qualities of lemon, floral notes, and honey-like sweetness, with soft and bright citrus fruit acidity. In many coffee shops, customers sometimes suddenly ask in surprise: What is Yirgacheffe coffee? Then the coffee shop owner or barista will explain single-origin coffee and introduce Yirgacheffe to the customers.
Because of its uniqueness, those owners and baristas genuinely can't help but recommend this coffee to their customers. Because of its uniqueness, it lets customers discover for the first time that coffee doesn't have to be bitter—it can also be sour and sweet! This is why Yirgacheffe is so famous. More and more people are falling in love with specialty coffee.
