Yirgacheffe is a small town at an altitude of 700-2100 meters, synonymous with premium Ethiopian coffee. Historically a wetland area, the ancient words "Yirga" meaning "settle down" and "Cheffe" meaning "wetland" reflect its origins. The distinctive coffee production methods and flavors here are so outstanding that Ethiopian coffee farmers take pride in their coffee exhibiting Yirgacheffe characteristics, making it the most renowned coffee growing region in Africa.

Initially, Yirgacheffe's coffee trees were cultivated by European monks, later managed by farmers or cooperatives. Yirgacheffe is actually composed of surrounding coffee communities or cooperatives, primarily including: Hafursa, Hama, and Biloa.

These mountain villages are shrouded in mist with spring-like weather year-round. Summer brings gentle breezes - cool without being hot, rainy without being humid, while winter avoids frost damage. This unique environment creates distinctive regional flavors of citrus and floral notes. Coffee trees are mostly planted in farmers' backyards or intercropped with other agricultural crops. Each household produces limited quantities, making this typical pastoral coffee.

The so-called "Yirgacheffe flavor" refers to intense jasmine fragrance, lemon or lime citrus acidity, as well as peach, almond sweetness, and tea-like notes. When the coffee enters your mouth, it's like a hundred flowers blooming. Beyond the floral aromas, the delicate body provides a wonderful sensation, like silk gently massaging your palate.

Characteristics: Lemon acidity, intense floral notes
