Tanzanian Coffee Varieties and Tanzanian Coffee Bean Grading Method Introduction
FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Tanzania Coffee Grading
Peaberry coffee beans grown in the Meru and Kilimanjaro mountains of Tanzania are a bright Arabica coffee with medium body and pleasant fruity acidity. The finest Tanzanian coffees have a deep, rich flavor that often reveals hints of blackcurrant, which melts into chocolate and then blends into the coffee's sweet aftertaste.
It has floral and complex aromatics, often with notes of pineapple, citrus, or coconut. The mouthfeel is delicate, sometimes revealing wine-like characteristics and a velvety texture.
70% of Tanzanian coffee beans planted are Arabica varieties, with the remaining 30% being Robusta varieties.
