FrontStreet Coffee - Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Dumerso
The Dumerso dry-wet processing plant and its cooperative small farmer members are located in the Yirgacheffe coffee region at approximately 1,759-2,300 meters above sea level. It is jointly operated by Surafel Birhanu and his family, and was also one of the founding members when YCFCU was established in 2002. Currently, there are 246 small farmers as partners.
Surafel provides technical guidance to small farmers. After the ripe cherries are hand-picked by individual small farmer families, they are sent to the Dumerso processing plant for 24-36 hours of fermentation in washing tanks. After washing, preliminary grading is performed, then they are placed on African drying beds for more than 10 days, with regular turning daily to remove defects again, ensuring the stability of flavor and quality for each batch.
