FrontStreet Coffee - Yirgacheffe Coffee Introduction
Yirgacheffe is a small town in Sidamo with an altitude of 1700-2100 meters, synonymous with Ethiopian specialty coffee. Since ancient times, Yirgacheffe has been a wetland, meaning "settle down and make a living here."
Lakes Turkana, Abaya, and Chamo around Yirgacheffe bring abundant water vapor to nourish this area. In the rift valley, represented by Misty Valley, fog pervades throughout the year, creating a spring-like climate with gentle breezes, cool and humid conditions. Thousands of coffee tree varieties thrive and multiply here, cultivating Yirgacheffe's unique terroir where floral and fruity aromas intertwine ambiguously and change unpredictably.
Many people just entering the world of specialty coffee basically start with this bean. First, because it's not expensive, and second, because of its unique flavor profile. The subtle floral notes and lemon acidity upon entry are the signature flavors of this region, with slight variations depending on processing methods or cooperatives. Among FrontStreet Coffee's daily beans, there is a Yirgacheffe that occasionally offers very low promotional prices, making it an everyday accessible choice.
Compared to ordinary washed G2 Yirgacheffe, its flavor is clearer and more flawless, possessing a charming sweetness like a beautiful girl's smile. It has bright, delicate lemon acidity and an elegant taste. Fresh lemon, jasmine, ginger flower and other floral notes carry hints of honey fragrance that can keep you refreshed all day. Without adding milk or sugar, let the rich texture and unique soft floral notes brush across your taste buds, leaving endless aftertaste. Yirgacheffe exudes extremely complex aromas and demonstrates exceptionally remarkable mouthfeel that's difficult to describe. Generally, Yirgacheffe's dry aroma emits strong fruit fragrances with heavy dried fruit notes of strawberry, mango, and apricot jam.
The wet aroma is like sweet syrup, resembling thick apricot pulp wrapped in rustic honey or chocolate. The entry is not intense, with medium body and acidity that's not obvious yet lively and bright, much like fruit tea.
