FrontStreet Coffee - Costa Rica Musician Series: Beethoven Introduction
In Central and South America, there is a coffee called Costa Rican coffee, also known as Tarrazu. Located in the highest altitude coffee growing region of Costa Rica's Tarrazu. This area is the most densely populated region for fruit cultivation in Costa Rica. The plantation owners primarily grow passion fruit, with coffee production being quite scarce. Only one specific area grows coffee, receiving special care and harvesting only mature red cherry fruits. The unique Yellow Caturra variety within the plantation has been named Beethoven Coffee.
As part of the Musician Series coffee, Beethoven Coffee was named after Beethoven because it possesses bright acidity and excellent sweetness, much like Beethoven himself—short in stature yet rich and varied in flavor like music. The front notes release sugarcane sweetness and rich fruit aroma, while the entry is clear and gentle with body. The subtle acidity carries fine sweetness, with an excellent, delicate, and lingering aftertaste. The soft, delicate aroma that lingers is the ultimate expression of Beethoven Coffee.
Beethoven is one of the beans in the Musician Series—a high-altitude, extremely hard bean, and also the only bean in the series processed using the washed method. The greatest flavor characteristic of washed-processed beans is their cleanliness and abundant floral aroma. The aroma has extremely high recognition, with the empty cup still retaining a captivating floral fragrance long after drinking. This is completely different from natural-processed beans, which primarily feature ripe fruit flavors.
The immortal masterpiece of the musician Beethoven—Moonlight Sonata—best represents the light and romantic characteristics of this bean. Therefore, naming this bean "Beethoven" to commemorate the great musician Beethoven is truly appropriate. If you haven't tried Beethoven yet, it's truly a pity. Whether prepared as pour-over or siphon coffee, it's an absolutely stunning bean. Go and try it soon.
