Sumatra is the most important coffee-producing region in Indonesia, mainly distributed from Lake Toba to Aceh Province. Coffee from the Sumatra region is not named and sold by region. The reason is that there are no significant differences in coffee aroma between regions. Instead, differences in coffee aroma are determined by the level of hand-picking, processing techniques, and equipment. In fact, Sumatra coffee is circulated under the name "Mandheling." The name Mandheling originates from the name of the ethnic minority engaged in coffee cultivation in this region. The quality grade of coffee in this region is not determined by the size or uniformity of green beans, but rather by the quality of the roasted coffee aroma.
Mandheling coffee is produced in Sumatra, Indonesia, with a fragrant aroma, rich bitterness and mellow body, with a hint of sweetness, making it indispensable for blended coffee. Mandheling coffee grows on highland mountains at altitudes of 750-1500 meters. Drinking it brings a youthful pleasure, a taste that is fascinating and evokes a sense of perseverance and confident courage. It can be called the Caesar of coffees, hence the saying "Men become great because of Mandheling, women become charming because of Mandheling." Mandheling coffee has low acidity, so it distinctly feels round and rich on the palate. When brewed, it fills the entire room with romantic and warm coffee aroma.
Mandheling coffee is produced in Sumatra, Asian Indonesia, also known as "Sumatra coffee." It has a very rich flavor, fragrant, bitter, and mellow, with a hint of sweetness. Most coffee enthusiasts generally drink it as a single origin, but it is also an indispensable variety for blended coffee. Since Mandheling coffee beans themselves have no acidic characteristics, special brewing methods generally use Mandheling coffee beans as a base. During long保温 or making iced coffee, there is no unpleasant acidic or astringent taste. After roasting, the beans are quite large, with green beans appearing brown or dark green, having a special caramel-like aroma, and a fragrant, mellow, and rich taste.
Before Jamaican Blue Mountain appeared, Mandheling was once considered by experts to be the world's best coffee. It has a rich body, wine-like醇度, unparalleled herbaceous flavor, sometimes with mushroom-like aromas, and a deep, sophisticated flavor with only faint acidity.
Gayo Mountain Mandheling is located in Aceh Province, which is famous for producing the highest grade coffee. Indonesian green coffee beans are generally uneven in size, with many cracks and numerous defective beans regardless of grade. However, in reality, Gayo Mountain Mandheling is over 80% Typica variety. Unlike other regions in Indonesia that mix several beans for sale, the green beans appear more uniform in size. Gayo Mountain is located in the highest altitude mountainous area of Aceh Province. Although the green beans have lower body than other producing regions, their unique acidity and superior balance make it the highest quality specialty coffee among Indonesian coffees.
