Guatemala coffee can be said to be the gem on the crown of Central American coffee. While this doesn't mean that all Guatemalan coffee is good, it does indicate that the probability of producing 88+ grade coffee in Guatemalan regions is higher and more likely than in regions of neighboring countries.

High-quality Guatemalan coffee has bright flavor characteristics, possessing floral aromas and pure fruit flavors, with moderate body and a long aftertaste. Coffee farms vary in scale and quality, from large estates to small farms built on steep mountain slopes, and coffee from the same region can produce different flavor characteristics.

The Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) coffee from here is full-bodied and deliciously balanced, making for pure and rich coffee when brewed. Guatemala coffee once enjoyed the reputation of being the world's best quality coffee, but its quality had declined at one point. However, it is gratifying that its reputation is gradually being restored.

In 1750, Jesuit priests introduced coffee trees to Guatemala, primarily planting Arabica varieties. By the late 19th century, German colonists had developed the coffee industry here. Today, most coffee production takes place in the southern part of the country. Here, the slopes of the Sierra Madre volcanoes provide ideal conditions for growing premium coffee beans, with coffee thriving in high-altitude areas. Compared to other types of coffee, connoisseurs prefer this coffee with its spicy mixed flavor profile.

The Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) coffee from this region is exceptionally good, with full-bodied, delicious flavor and balanced acidity. Additionally, its giant coffee beans have also drawn significant attention to Guatemala. The coffee industry once brought prosperity to the country and still holds a dominant position in the national economy today. Unfortunately, domestic political conditions are not favorable to coffee growers. High yield is usually a sign of overall economic prosperity in a country.

Antigua is also a famous coffee-producing region. Antigua coffee is produced at Hacienda Carmona, where the best quality coffee is EL Pulcal. It not only has good quality but is also more intense, richer in flavor, and has a stronger tobacco taste than other Guatemalan coffees.
