FrontStreet Coffee - Latin American Coffee Origins Introduction
In that year (1727), a border dispute occurred between the then-French Guiana and Dutch Guiana, with the governors of the two territories clashing. Of course, Europeans were relatively polite back then. When the two couldn't resolve their differences, they discussed finding a middleman. So they brought in a Brazilian official from the neutral Portuguese territory to mediate. This Brazilian official was named Francisco de Mello Palheta. The fellow readily agreed.
I believe Brazilians definitely didn't agree to go purely out of kindness - this guy knew both territories had coffee trees. He was absolutely there for the coffee. So the fellow enthusiastically went to mediate for them. Border disputes are inherently fussy matters. This Brazilian brother was busy with border reconciliation while also busy charming the French governor's wife. Soon, the border reconciliation plan was sorted out, and he had also won over the French governor's wife. So as Palheta prepared to leave, the French governor's wife presented him with a bouquet of flowers, hidden within which were fresh, plump coffee seeds! He brought the seeds back to Pará in northern Brazil, which quickly spread to southern Brazil, ultimately making Brazil the world's largest coffee-producing country today.
Blue Mountain Coffee - Café Monte Azul
The highest peak of the Blue Mountains reaches 2,256 meters, making it the highest peak in the Caribbean region and a famous tourist destination. Located in the coffee belt, it has fertile volcanic soil, fresh and unpolluted air, humid climate, and is foggy and rainy throughout the year. Such climate conditions have created the world-renowned Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, as well as the second most expensive coffee in the world. This coffee possesses all the characteristics of fine coffee - not only is it rich and mellow in flavor, but because the sweetness, acidity, and bitterness are perfectly balanced, it has no bitterness at all, with only moderate and perfect acidity.
2. Colombia Supremo Coffee - Café Colombia Supremo
This is one of the few single-origin coffees sold worldwide under a country name. The roasted coffee beans release a sweet aroma, with the quality characteristic of sweetness within acidity and balanced bitterness. Due to its appropriate concentration, it's often used in premium coffee blends. Colombian coffee exudes a light and elegant fragrance, not as strong as Brazilian coffee, nor as acidic as African coffee, but rather a sweet, subtle aroma - understated and elegant.
3. Brazilian Coffee - Café Brasileño
Brazil is the world's largest producer of "hard" coffee. Brazilian coffee has lower acidity, complementing its sweet and bitter flavors. It's extremely smooth on the palate with a faint grassy aroma. The light fragrance with slight bitterness, sweet and smooth finish, leaves a refreshing and pleasant aftertaste.
4. Guatemala Antigua Coffee - Café Antigua Guatemala
Guatemalan coffee is produced in Guatemala. These beans belong to the Bourbon variety and are one of the more acidic varieties. The flavor is mellow with a hint of wildness, making it most suitable for blending into mixed coffees.
