Elida Estate is located in the Boquete region of Chiriquí Province, Panama's western border province. The province's most famous landmark and tourist destination is the 3,300-meter-high Baru Volcano — one of the highest volcanoes in Central America. With a total area of approximately 14,000 hectares, it can be divided into 7 different microclimate zones by altitude. Many rare plants, birds, and mammals live in the volcanic area, which is a protected national park where hunting and human development are prohibited.

The Boquete region lies on the eastern side of Baru Volcano, in a valley formed by volcanic lava flows, adjacent to another famous Panamanian coffee region, the Volcan Valley. Elida Estate covers a total area of 65 hectares, more than half within Baru Volcano National Park. Of the estate, 30 hectares are planted with coffee trees and the remaining 35 hectares are primary forest. Coffee is grown at 1,670 to 1,850 meters, making Elida one of the two highest-altitude coffee estates in Panama (the other, of similar altitude, is Carmen Estate, in Volcan Valley).

In such a high-altitude environment, low temperatures delay the maturation of the coffee cherries by about a full month compared with the normal maturity period. Fertile volcanic loam provides abundant nutrients, and combined with the excellent microclimate brought by Baru Volcano, this allows Elida Estate to consistently achieve outstanding results in cupping competitions.

Beyond creating favorable growing conditions, the Lamastus family, which operates Elida Estate, has also planted many different native tree species within the estate, not only shading the coffee trees but also offering a friendly habitat for birds. For fertilization, the family uses manual fertilization and small amounts of chemical fertilizer, but never environmentally harmful pesticides or herbicides.
