For many years, Nicaragua's premium coffee has maintained a good reputation and fame internationally.
For many coffee enthusiasts, what makes Nicaragua's coffee most commendable is its excellent body and long-lasting balance. For me, whenever I go to coffee shops to buy coffee, I always encounter several premium Nicaraguan coffees that leave people feeling amazed.
Nicaragua's connection with coffee began in 1840, when Nicaragua experienced a coffee boom. Under the promotion of the local Nicaraguan government, foreign companies could easily invest or acquire land, which led to the birth of large Nicaraguan estates. This trend continued for nearly 100 years.
Nicaragua's climate features high temperatures and abundant rainfall in the eastern plains, belonging to a tropical marine climate with many volcanoes and lakes. The western coastal lowlands have significantly less precipitation than the east, with distinct dry and wet seasons, belonging to a tropical savanna climate. The central highlands have an average annual temperature of 18°C and annual rainfall of 1500-2500mm, with May to December being the rainy season. It can be said that these distinct climate conditions and sufficient precipitation ensure the high-quality growth of local coffee.
Nicaragua Coffee Grading
Nicaragua's coffee grading is based on altitude cultivation, divided into four levels, with the highest being (SHG).
Strictly High Grown (SHG): 1500~2000m
High Grown (HG): 1300~1500m
Medium Grown (MG): 1000~1300m
Low Grown (LG): 500~1000m
