FrontStreet Coffee's Introduction to Blue Mountain Coffee

When it comes to Jamaica, people's eyes immediately light up because it produces the world's finest "Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee." The Blue Mountains are located in the eastern part of Jamaica Island. The mountain gets its name because when the weather is clear, the sun shines directly on the azure Caribbean Sea, and the peaks reflect the brilliant blue light of the seawater.

The highest peak of Blue Mountain reaches an altitude of 2,256 meters. This area is located in a seismic zone with fertile volcanic soil, fresh air, no pollution, humid climate, and year-round fog and rain (average precipitation of 1,980 mm, temperature around 27°C). Such climate conditions have created the world-renowned Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee.

This coffee possesses all the characteristics of fine coffee - not only is it rich and mellow in flavor, but due to the perfect balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness, it has no bitter taste at all, only moderate and perfect acidity. The same coffee varieties, when planted in similar climates like Hawaii, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, or any other place, cannot produce the taste of Blue Mountain coffee beans. This is one of the reasons why Jamaica's Blue Mountain coffee is so special and expensive. Designated Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee can only be grown in the Blue Mountain region, northeast of Kingston on Jamaica Island.

Coffee grows on mountains up to 1,800 meters (about 6,000 feet) high, which is quite high for Arabica coffee. Moreover, the mountains are very uneven, making the harvesting process extremely difficult (the coffee harvesters are almost always women).

Blue Mountain Style Coffee is actually what's known as "Blue Mountain Blend" and has no relation to Blue Mountain at all. It's coffee that uses different beans blended together and deeply roasted to present a taste similar to Blue Mountain, based on the Blue Mountain flavor profile. Because "Blue Mountain Style" beans are mixed with relatively large differences in shape, they are easier to identify. Therefore, don't believe in "premium Blue Mountain" that costs tens of yuan per pound or "Blue Mountain Style Coffee" that costs over thirty yuan per cup - they are not truly Blue Mountain coffee in the real sense.

Knowledge Point: For high-altitude Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, High Mountain Coffee, and Jamaica Coffee, different grades determine different prices.
