Mayan culture is one of the world's important ancient cultures and a major classical culture in the Americas. According to historical records, the Maya cultivated new varieties of food crops that made significant contributions to humanity in agricultural production, such as corn, tomatoes, pumpkins, beans, sweet potatoes, chili peppers, cocoa, vanilla, and tobacco. Among these, the cultivation of corn contributed the most to humanity. Although there are no records about coffee here, today, most coffee producers in Guatemala can be regarded as descendants of the Maya, and they themselves like to be called so.
Guatemalan coffee has a rich aroma, and even without drinking it, smelling the aroma alone is a kind of enjoyment. Antigua coffee has a rich and velvety body, with a rich and lively fragrance, and delicate acidity. When the enticing rich fragrance lingers on your tongue, there is an indescribable mystery hidden within it. When you take the first sip, you might find it plain, but as the coffee slowly cools, you will discover its subtle sweetness and be surprised by its depth.
The reason why Antigua coffee is pursued by the vast majority of coffee lovers is simply because of its unique fragrance. Because it is grown on the belly of volcanoes, it can better retain its characteristics compared to Costa Rica. The main reason is that it has more geographical and climatic advantages than Costa Rica. Guatemala is located in the tropics, but due to its relatively high altitude, the climate is mild, truly belonging to a subtropical climate. Under the influence of this climate, coffee trees flower and bear fruit slower than coffee trees in other parts of the world. However, the mild climate combined with fertile soil creates an excellent environment for growing coffee.
These coffee industries run by the Maya once made Guatemala's economy prosperous and occupied a dominant position in the national economy. Unfortunately, the domestic political situation in Guatemala is not favorable to these coffee growers. High yield is usually a sign of overall economic prosperity in a country. However, Guatemala's coffee production has relatively declined, with only 700 kilograms per hectare, while El Salvador's yield is 900 kilograms per hectare, and Costa Rica's yield is surprisingly high, reaching 1700 kilograms per hectare. Guatemala's coffee export trade is controlled by private companies, but the National Coffee Committee controls other sectors of the coffee industry.
Currently, some of Guatemala's highest quality coffee is exported to Japan, where each cup of coffee sells for $3-4. In order to revitalize its coffee industry, Guatemala has specially established a Specialty Coffee Association and provides maximum support and attention to these high-quality coffees. These efforts will soon achieve results, and the true beneficiaries will not only be those coffee growers but also coffee lovers worldwide.

Guatemala Antigua coffee not only has smooth, hard, high-quality beans, but also a perfect combination of richness, acidity, and sweetness, plus a hint of smoky flavor that further emphasizes its depth and mystery.
Guatemala is located in the center of North and South America, and its geographical location holds an important position in Central America. Guatemala's land area is about 108,899 square kilometers. The country's features can be divided into: highland volcanoes, lowland tropical forests, volcanic sandy coastal plains along the Pacific, and virgin lands along the Caribbean coast. Central America's Sierra Madre Mountains stretch across Guatemala from east to west, occupying about 2/3 of the country, with 34 volcanoes within its borders. In this country, rivers and lakes dot the landscape, while equatorial forests and plains jungles cover the land. There are also undeveloped volcanic beaches along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
The coffee produced in Guatemala belongs to one of the world's top-tier coffees, because Guatemala is located in high-altitude volcanic terrain, and these volcanoes are the most ideal places for cultivating coffee. Compared with other varieties of coffee, connoisseurs prefer this mixed-flavor coffee with spicy notes. The strictly hard beans from this region are rare good coffees, with full, delicious, and balanced acidity. Additionally, its giant coffee beans have also made Guatemala receive significant attention.
Knowledge Point: The Antigua producing region is located in the entire area dominated by the Madre Plateau in the topographically traversing mountains of Guatemala. Because of the natural condition factors in this producing region, Antigua has become Guatemala's most famous producing region.
