FrontStreet Coffee - Colombian Coffee Introduction
Colombia is the world's third largest coffee exporter, mainly producing Arabica coffee, and is also the country that exports the most Arabica beans. Colombia is rich in natural resources, especially coffee, fresh flowers, gold, and emeralds, which are known as the "four treasures." Colombia is located in the northwestern part of the South American continent, bordering Panama in Central America.
Colombia's suitable climate provides a true "natural pasture" for coffee. The pure taste of Colombian coffee comes from Colombia's natural environment, which has the most favorable conditions for coffee growth.
Characteristic Flavor
Colombian coffee has a silky smooth mouthfeel. People equate Colombian coffee with high quality and good taste. It is sweet with acidity, has low bitterness, is rich in nutrients, and possesses a unique acidity and mellow flavor. The acidity, bitterness, and sweetness of Colombian premium coffee are perfectly balanced. With its unique aroma, the fragrance fills the entire mouth after drinking. Exhaling the aroma from the mouth through the nose, the scent is exceptionally full-bodied.
Coffee-to-Water Ratio
In coffee brewing, the coffee-to-water ratio refers to how many grams of coffee grounds are used compared to how many grams (or milliliters) of brewing water. 1000ml of water weighs approximately 1000g, so in actual brewing operations, we use an electronic scale to weigh the water, allowing us to precisely define the coffee-to-water ratio value. For example, the commonly mentioned 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio means 1 gram of coffee grounds to 15 grams of brewing water. So if you use 15 grams of coffee beans ground for brewing (assuming no residue in the grinder), then as long as you inject 225g (±1g) of water, you'll achieve your desired result.
Of course, a more precise method for weighing coffee grounds is to zero the electronic scale before pouring the coffee grounds into the filter, allowing the total weight of brewed coffee grounds to be accurate to 0.1g.
As for what black coffee is, it's quite simple. It's pure brewed coffee without any additives.
Knowledge Point
Colombian coffee is one of the few single-origin coffees sold worldwide that is named after its country.
