According to the regulations of the Jamaica Coffee Industry Board, only coffee grown at altitudes between 2,000 and 5,000 feet qualifies to be called Blue Mountain Coffee. The soil and climate in this altitude region are key factors in shaping premium coffee beans.

The cultivation of Blue Mountain Coffee requires specific altitude regions. Generally, the higher the altitude, the better the quality of the coffee beans.

Blue Mountain Coffee beans typically grow on steep slopes at high altitudes, making conditions extremely challenging and sometimes dangerous for coffee farmers when it comes to weeding, planting, and harvesting. Blue Mountain Coffee beans are harvested once or twice a year, and during harvesting, only coffee beans with optimal ripeness are selected to ensure the unique flavor of Blue Mountain Coffee.

Amber Blue Mountain Coffee grows at altitudes above 1,800 meters, making it unique among Blue Mountain Coffee beans.
