Colombia is the world's second-largest coffee exporter, accounting for approximately 15% of global production. Its coffee trees are primarily planted in the three mountain ranges that run north-south through the country, with only Arabica varieties cultivated.

Although its production ranking is lower than Brazil's, Colombian coffee beans are of excellent quality, with rich and unique flavors, balanced acidity with sweetness, and moderate bitterness. They are highly suitable for both single-origin consumption and blending.

Colombian beans, like Brazilian beans, are among the best choices for blended coffee foundations. However, their flavor profile is richer and more mellow than Brazilian beans, with a more intense aroma. Besides being enjoyed as single-origin, they are often used in coffee blends to increase sweetness and balance the bitterness of other coffees.

Colombia Huila is the premium specialty among Colombian coffees. Its balance is widely recognized as the best coffee, belonging to the specially selected high-altitude coffee beans of the Colombian national company, reputed as a national treasure of Colombia. Thanks to superior geographical and climatic conditions, Colombian coffee has consistently maintained high quality standards. Typically, Colombian coffee beans without special market trademark names come from the National Federation of Colombia Coffee Growers, a very large federation spanning Colombia. It has always been known for its strict quality control and active promotion.

In Colombia's coffee bean grading system, Supremo is the highest grade, representing the largest and fullest premium coffee beans among Colombian varieties, with extremely low content of defective beans and impurities. Excelso, on the other hand, consists of smaller, more ordinary grade beans. Colombian coffee exhibits balanced flavor characteristics, rich acidity, unique flavor profiles, and relatively full body. Sometimes it carries hints of red wine nuances and admirable fruit flavors. A small portion of Colombian coffee comes from old varieties such as Typica or Bourbon. Generally, these are branded using the estate name or the processing factory's name.
