FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Cuban Coffee
Most of Cuba's territory has a tropical rainforest climate, with only the leeward slopes of the southwestern coast having a tropical savanna climate. The average annual temperature is 25°C, and except for a few areas, annual precipitation exceeds 1000mm. Coffee from this region has the characteristics of island coffee: low acidity, good body, and richness.
In Cuba, coffee cultivation is managed by the state. The Cuban region has fertile soil, humid climate, and abundant rainfall, making it a natural treasure trove for coffee cultivation. The favorable natural conditions provide an advantageous environment for the growth of coffee trees.
The best coffee growing area in Cuba is located in the central mountain range. Because this region not only grows coffee but also contains precious minerals such as quartz and crystals, it is also known as "Crystal Mountain."
All coffee is hand-picked, and high-quality coffee for export uses the washed processing method to remove defective beans and other impurities to the greatest extent. "Crystal Mountain Coffee" is almost synonymous with top-tier Cuban coffee: soft and persistent fruity acidity, clean taste, delicate and smooth, with excellent balance between acidity and bitterness and a sweet aftertaste.
Crystal Mountain coffee beans are typical island beans with a clean and delicate taste, with a slight acidity that is not strong but persistent, carrying a sweet melon and fruit aroma. Coffee brewed from it has a rare and perfect flavor: aromatic bitterness with a rich and smooth taste. It slightly contains a wine-like bitterness and a faint sweetness, and even vaguely contains a hint of smokiness, delicate and smooth, refreshing and elegant. The numerous flavors blend together in near-perfect harmony.
To brew Crystal Mountain coffee, it's best to use pour-over or American coffee machines, with water temperature below 85°C. For siphon brewing, don't use too much heat and don't brew for too long. When tasting coffee, because it is quite aromatic and mellow, you can add more milk but less sugar - generally two or three small spoons (coffee cup spoons) is just right. We believe its unique flavor will leave you with a deep impression.
Knowledge point: Cigars, coffee, and sugarcane are the three major industries of the Republic of Cuba, enjoying worldwide reputation.
