FrontStreet Coffee - Arabica Coffee and Blue Mountain Coffee Introduction

The first type is Arabica beans. World-renowned coffees like Blue Mountain coffee and Mocha coffee are almost entirely of the Arabica variety. Another type is Robusta. The Robusta coffee tree originates from the Congo in Africa. Different varieties of coffee beans have different flavors, but even coffee trees of the same variety produce coffee beans with unique flavors due to the influence of different soils and climates. The other two types are: Liberica and Excelsa.

The Typica coffee variety is considered the prototype of all variants or genetic selections. The Netherlands was the first country to spread coffee around the world for commercial cultivation, and Typica was the coffee variety at that time. Typica fruits are usually red, and their flavor in the cup is also outstanding, though their fruit yield is lower than other varieties. Many coffee-producing countries around the world still grow Typica, which has different names in different places, such as Criollo, Sumatra, and Arabigo.

Blue Mountain coffee is a transplant cultivation of the Typica variety.

The Blue Mountain Range is located in eastern Jamaica, and the peaks of the Blue Mountains exceed 1,800 meters in altitude. The renowned Blue Mountain coffee grows in this mountainous area. Mavis Bank is located in Jamaica's legally designated Blue Mountain region and is one of the Jamaican government-certified green bean processing plants. It has been operated by the Moon family since 1885. To be called Blue Mountain coffee, these coffee beans must grow between 900 and 1,500 meters above sea level in several administrative areas: Portland, St. Andrew, St. Mary, or St. Thomas, which is Blue Mountain No. 1.

Coffee beans grown at this altitude are very hard and filled with flavors that we all find addictive. This is coffee named after the mountain range. Coffee grown in other regions is not prohibited from being called Blue Mountain coffee, which has led to the "Blue Mountain scam."

Knowledge Expansion: Arabica coffee bean varieties originally come from places like Ethiopia and Yemen in Africa, and were later transplanted to various parts of the world.
