Daterra Estate was founded in 1974 in Patrocínio, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It began with avocados and cattle ranching, and only in the 1980s did the estate commit itself entirely to coffee. Next to the long history of Brazilian coffee, Daterra counts as a young estate — and being young, it embraces cutting-edge technology.

Daterra keeps more than 50% of its land as protected area while focusing on production quality, employee welfare, and sustainable operations, making it a benchmark for social responsibility and environmental care among coffee farms. Sitting above 1,150 meters with a stable 25°C climate and shade-grown under rainforest canopy, it produces high-quality Arabica beans, and its dry-season harvest adds to the quality. The farm is divided into zones with varieties kept separate, each with detailed rainfall and production records for management and monitoring. Sustainability has always been central to Daterra's philosophy: it works with scientists to keep improving its ecological farming methods, optimizes water use, recycles processing water, makes organic fertilizer, preserves original forest, wildlife, and ecosystems, maintains 50% ecological protection area, and spreads environmental knowledge among employees, local communities, customers, and suppliers.
