Coffee is also a type of agricultural product, and coffee from different places has different names. Some are named after places, others after estates, and interestingly, some are named after musicians. Isn't that fascinating? At FrontStreet Coffee, we also have coffees named after musicians: Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. Why did we choose to name them after musicians? And what are their different flavor profiles? Let FrontStreet Coffee give you a detailed introduction!

The Carnet estate in central Costa Rica uses Caturra and Catuai coffee beans to produce raisin honey-processed and washed coffee, creating the world-renowned Musician Series coffee beans named after "Beethoven," "Bach," "Chopin," and "Mozart." Grown at altitudes between 1,700-1,950 meters, they are all SHB grade high-altitude strictly hard beans with sweet flavors, rich fruit aromas, and prominent wine and tea notes.

In the 2019 harvest season, they focused exclusively on Caturra coffee beans, reinterpreting the exquisite flavors of the Musician Series.

The Carnet Estate from Costa Rica is just a small estate owned by three brothers. They have been growing coffee beans for over 10 years and also operate a small coffee processing plant. The popular Musician Series coffee is produced by this estate using different processing methods, with each coffee having different flavor emphasis.

The origin of FrontStreet Coffee's Musician Series comes from the Carnet Estate owner's love for classical music, so all coffee beans produced by this estate are named after musicians. The Carnet Estate is located in the highest altitude coffee growing area of Tarrazu, Costa Rica. The estate uses Caturra and Catuai coffee beans to produce raisin honey-processed and washed coffee, creating the world-renowned Musician Series coffee beans named after "Beethoven," "Bach," and "Mozart." Grown at altitudes between 1,700-1,950 meters, they are all SHB grade high-altitude strictly hard beans with sweet flavors, rich fruit aromas, and prominent wine and tea notes.

What are the characteristics of FrontStreet Coffee's Musician Series?

Costa Rica is perfect for growing coffee!

Poas Volcano (2,708 meters), Barva Volcano (2,906 meters), and Irazu Volcano (3,432 meters) are located in central Costa Rica, bringing rich minerals, phosphides, sulfides, and other nutrients to the soil. The slightly acidic soil has made central Costa Rica a world-renowned coffee-producing region, with the Tarrazu region being one of them.

Caturra Coffee Beans: The Mainstay of the 2019 Musician Series!

The flavors of the Musician Series vary each year. Basically, they use Caturra and Catuai coffee beans, combined with different degrees of mucilage (raisin) honey processing and washing methods to create coffee beans with different personalities, named after Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and Mozart.

The latest 2019 batch of the Musician Series exclusively uses Caturra coffee beans. It is a Bourbon variety with better disease resistance and productivity than the delicate Bourbon. Its flavor improves with higher altitude, but production also decreases. The Musician Series can be said to represent the altitude limits of Caturra coffee beans, producing world-renowned coffee.

FrontStreet Coffee's Costa Rica Bach Coffee Beans

FrontStreet Coffee's Bach music is exquisite, rich in layers, yet clear and organized.

The coffee beans named Bach have a dry aroma with strawberry, blackberry, and raisin-like fruit notes. During brewing, waves of fruit aroma also emerge. When freshly brewed, floral and fruit aromas are prominent. Upon tasting, you can experience rich fruit aroma and sweet-sour sensation, with a subtle wine note in the middle to late finish, similar to red wine.

When cooled, it reveals candied sweet aroma with even more prominent wine notes, even exhibiting plum wine flavors. Every sip feels like being immersed in the grandeur and precision of Baroque aesthetics.

FrontStreet Coffee's Costa Rica Beethoven Coffee Beans

Beethoven was a coffee enthusiast - it's said that he would count coffee beans to entertain himself and would use exactly 60 coffee beans to make a cup of coffee, truly an interesting story. FrontStreet Coffee found this bean to be quite impressive, with very prominent floral and fruit aromas, honey sweetness, berry acidity, moderate body, and full, solid acidity.

Beethoven is undoubtedly the most famous figure in Romantic classical music, and the coffee beans that evoke Beethoven's music naturally have exceptional flavors. The dry aroma has distinct red berries, with strawberry being most prominent, and gives off a floral scent. During brewing, you can experience floral, nectar-like sweetness with green grape notes.

FrontStreet Coffee's Beethoven coffee has the sweet-sour sensation of green grapes and red berries upon entry, with an overall clean and smooth texture.

When cooled, the red berry notes become even more pronounced. Some foreign coffee bloggers have even said this is a coffee with summer romantic sentiment!

Incidentally, unlike the raisin honey processing used for other series in the Musician collection, Beethoven uses the washing method to achieve a clean and refreshing summer-like mouthfeel.

The Musical Prodigy Mozart Coffee Beans

Finally, we have Mozart - the child prodigy who epitomized classical music. Embrace the splendor!

FrontStreet Coffee's Mozart has a gorgeous coffee aroma: emitting elegant floral notes, similar to the white flower aroma of orange blossoms, which can also be felt during brewing.

Mozart

Gorgeous mouthfeel: abundant dark berries, raisins, and subtle red berries, with some plum acidity and gummy bear-like sweetness in the middle to late finish. When cooled, it still retains floral and sweet notes.

Unlike previous years, the Mozart coffee beans used to be yellow Catuai variety processed with red honey, known for their exuberant floral aromas. This time, it was decided to use Caturra's sweetness as Mozart's representative characteristic.

These are the three coffee flavors in FrontStreet Coffee's Musician Series. As for which one tastes best, FrontStreet Coffee believes that each is delicious in its own way. Each coffee has its own flavor characteristics - whichever one you like is the best tasting! Of course, if possible, tasting coffees with different flavors is also a great pleasure!
