FrontStreet Coffee's Famous Colombian Coffee Bean Brand: Acevedo Washed Pink Bourbon Introduction
When it comes to FrontStreet Coffee's Colombian coffee, people think of its balanced flavor and pleasant acidity, full-bodied juice sensation, with a long-lasting sweet aftertaste, making it a favorite for many. Among Colombia's famous coffee brands, Huila holds its place, particularly with its rare Pink Bourbon, known for its complex aroma, making it one of Colombia's renowned coffee brands. Today, FrontStreet Coffee is here to share with you a new Pink Bourbon from Colombia.
The Huila region in southwestern Colombia, along with the Narino and Tolima regions, are all excellent coffee-producing areas. The top 10 in Colombia's annual coffee competition almost always come from these three regions. They also predominantly consist of small coffee farmers with small cultivation areas and low production volumes.
Huila Province is located in western Colombia, where the Andes Mountains form a narrow canyon. Coffee grows on the slopes here, which is also a well-known coffee-producing region in Colombia.
Huila Province's coffee is characterized by very balanced and mellow flavors due to its fertile volcanic soil, moderate rainfall, and high-altitude microclimate. Most production here is by small farmers, with approximately 80% of producers in the region growing coffee on less than 3 hectares of land. Because most are cared for by small farming families themselves, with labor rarely outsourced, farms and coffee beans can be managed more thoroughly and intensively.
The reason Pink Bourbon is so precious is its extreme rarity, which made it unknown in the past. Pink Bourbon is a hybrid cross between Yellow Bourbon and Red Bourbon. It has particularly strong disease resistance, is extremely delicious, but is very difficult to maintain stable production with extremely low yields. Another challenge lies in harvesting, as workers find it difficult to determine whether the cherries are ripe when picking.
The farmer growing this Pink Bourbon is Gabriel Castaño, whose farm is Finca La Granada, located in the Acevedo region, which is the second highest region in all of Colombia, with altitudes reaching 1800 meters.
Warm days and cool nights provide appropriate environmental growth factors for coffee trees, helping to extend the coffee's maturation period, increase density, and achieve higher sugar content. The farm covers only 2 hectares, and Gabriel owns 8000 Pink Bourbon trees. The rich flavors exhibited during cupping have made Pink Bourbon increasingly famous.
This Pink Bourbon from Colombia introduced by FrontStreet Coffee is processed using the typical Colombian full wash method. After the cherries are sorted to remove floating beans, and pulp is removed, the coffee is fermented in cement tanks to remove residual pectin, a process that lasts 24-36 hours. After fermentation, it is dried in UV-resistant plastic greenhouses for 15 days.
