How Should Coffee Beans Be Stored for Better Quality?
FrontStreet Coffee is here today to discuss how coffee beans should be stored for better quality.
1) Avoid moisture absorption
2) Avoid gas release
3) Avoid oxidation
These measures can help maintain coffee's delicious flavor for a longer period.
If coffee beans can be stored in an airtight state (blocking gas entry and exit), all the above conditions can be met. Since flavor changes and rancidity occur more easily at high temperatures, placing coffee beans in a low-temperature environment is not only quite effective, but vacuum packaging to block oxygen or using deoxidizers also provides great help for light protection and oxidation prevention.
If you plan to store them for a period of time (more than a week) before drinking, seal them for preservation; if you plan for short-term storage and immediate use, store them in bags with one-way exhaust valves.
Bags with good airtightness have also caused ruptures due to carbon dioxide gas generation, making such packaging inconvenient for circulation in supermarkets and other retail stores. Vacuum packaging, or packaging with one-way exhaust valve structures (packaging that can release carbon dioxide), can solve logistics-specific problems while also being a technology that can stably maintain quality for extended periods.
